On Tuesday, 18 November 2025, Dr. Awara Hussein, Director General of the LPO participated in the International Conference on Victims of Chemical Weapons (Scorched Breaths) held in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The conference brought together several ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors from different countries, representatives of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and other distinguished participants.

During the conference, Dr. Awara held discussions with ambassadors, government representatives, and Iranian and international media outlets on the Halabja Chemical attack (Halabja Genocide). He sought to contribute to raising international awareness of the suffering caused by the Genocide against the people of Halabja and the Kurdish people. Furthermore, particular attention was given to the judgments of the Hague Court concerning the Genocidal chemical attacks on Halabja and Sardasht. Participants stressed that the international justice system must continue to respond effectively to ongoing international crimes and uphold accountability.

The conference was organized by the Association for the Protection of the Rights of Chemical-Injured Victims of Sardasht.
