

Dr.Awara Hussein Ahmed
Lecturer in Public International Law and International Criminal Law at the Department of Law, University of Halabja.
He holds a PhD in International Criminal Law from the University of Soran, a Master’s degree in International Law from the University of Pune, India, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Sulaimani. He is a founding member and the first Head of the Department of Law at the University of Halabja, and a former Dean of the College of Law and Administration at the University of Halabja.
He has published seven books and nine research articles in the fields of Public International Law and International Criminal Law. He is the Director General of the Law Protection Organization (LPO).


Dr.Jamal Mohammed Amin
Lecturer in Kurd in International Relations at the Department of Law, University of Halabja.
He holds a PhD in Political Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia, a Master’s degree in International Relations from Girne American University, Cyprus, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Sulaimani. He is the third Head of the Department of Law at the University of Halabja.
He has published one book and fourteen research articles in the fields of politics, international relations, and law. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Law Protection Organization (LPO).

About the LPO
Law Protection Organization: An independent, non-governmental, non-political, non-partisan, and non-profit organization dedicated to research and training on the implementation, development, and protection of international criminal law, international criminal justice, and peace education in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as efforts to establish the Kurdistan Court of International Crimes and support Iraq's membership in the International Criminal Court.
Vision and Mission
These are the visions of the organization:
1. Promoting the adoption of international criminal law at both the Kurdistan Regional and Iraqi national levels
2. Advocating for the establishment of the Kurdistan Court for International Crimes to ensure accountability for serious violations of international law.
3. Supporting the investigation and prosecution of perpetrators of international crimes, including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression, in accordance with international criminal law principles.
4. Working towards Iraq’s accession to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to strengthen the country's commitment to international justice.
5. Promoting the implementation of universal jurisdiction for international crimes—such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression—in both Kurdistan and Iraq.
6. Encouraging legal reforms aligned with international criminal law standards, with a focus on ending impunity and strengthening accountability mechanisms.
7. Educating key stakeholders, including law students and legal professionals in Kurdistan, about international criminal law, its importance, and its real-world impact.
8. Providing legal representation and advisory support to victims of international crimes before specialized domestic and international courts.
